Other AllergiesThere are some allergies which do not fit in any other allergies. Some more allergies are: Allergy & Chronic Diseases: A sensitive reaction to a foreign substance that is harmless under normal circumstances but in some it produces a reaction that may be violent in nature is called an allergy. Chronic diseases come under the serious category of allergies. An individual may suffer from chronic and nasal allergies at the same time and can be caused due to cold air, smoke, dry air and particles present in the air. Allergy in Pregnancy: The female body undergoes immense change during pregnancy. Allergic diseases occur when hormonal changes have an influence on the immune system. During pregnancy the immune system is less vigilant to allergens, which in turn causes allergies like asthma, nasal allergies, and urticaria. Allergies to Medications: Many drugs can cause adverse side effects, and certain medicines can trigger allergic reactions. In an allergic reaction, the immune system mistakenly responds to a drug by creating an immune response against it. The immune system recognizes the drug as a foreign substance and the body produces certain chemicals, in an attempt to expel the drug from the body. Migraine: Individuals with allergic rhinitis are much more susceptible to suffer from migraine on a much wider level. Migraine headaches occur on a regular basis for a length of time. Sensitivity to light, vomiting, and nausea are the symptoms which are visible with migraine. Plant Allergies: Certain plant triggers an allergic reaction when it comes into contact with skin, resulting in an itchy rash, which can appear within hours of exposure or up to several days later. A person can be exposed directly or by touching objects -- such as gardening tools, camping equipment and even a pet's fur -- that have come into contact with the sap of one of the poison plants. The rash that results from the poison plants is a form of allergic contact dermatitis Allergic Conjunctivitis: Conjunctivitis is amongst the most common and treatable eye conditions in children and adults. Viruses, bacteria, irritating substances i.e. shampoo, dirt, smoke, pool chlorine, sexually transmitted diseases or allergens can cause conjunctivitis. Allergies Caused by Insect Stings: The severity of an insect sting reaction varies from person to person. Bee, wasp, yellow jacket, hornet or fire ant stings are the insect stings that most often trigger allergic reactions. However, most people are not allergic to insect stings and may mistake a normal sting reaction for an allergic reaction. By knowing the difference, you can prevent unnecessary worry and visits to the doctor. Allergic eye disease: An abnormal reaction of the body after contact with an allergen introduced by ingestion, injection or even skin contact which is often manifested by runny nose, itchy eyes or even diarrhea is called an allergy. Types of allergic eye disease are: Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis: caused due to hay fever Perennial allergic conjunctivitis: caused due to house dust mites or pet dander. Atopic keratoconjunctivitis: is a condition which is defined as a serious bilateral inflammation of conjunctiva and eye lids which is associated with Atopic eczema Children who have a history of Atopy suffer from vernal keratoconjunctivitis which is a very rare bilateral chronic disease. Giant papillary conjunctivitis: is described as an inflammatory disorder of superior tarsal conjunctiva. This eye disease is caused due to soft or hard contact lenses. |
